Home > Heping Boys to do Well > What are the learning strengths of boys?

Consider how these can be capitalised on in subject curriculum planning:

  • Competitiveness with peers
  • Adventurous with ideas - willing to take risks
  • Prefer experiential learning style and spatial and technical tasks
  • Work quickly and efficiently to priorities - can write concisely
  • Prefer factual, informative writing and non fictional reading
  • Like a 'good laugh'; tend to opt for open discussion and physical involvement
  • Display leadership skills in speaking and listening
  • React positively to short term goals and immediate rewards
  • More overtly confident than reflective
