Home > Heping Boys to do Well > Boy friendly attitudes and approaches

FUNNY - humour builds bridges, is non - threatening and indicates a confident teacher who is in charge.

FOCUSSED - on the learning with clear expectations set and an eye on communicating the relevance.

FRIENDLY - but not 'matey' ; boys will not learn well unless they feel you like them. Teachers are often unnecessarily reproachful or aggressive in their dealings with boys.

FIRM - testosterone in boys creates the need for a hierarchical order to be established. When things are sorted i.e. who is in charge, what are the rules, will I be fine? then boys will settle and learn.
