Christmas by Lorna

Christmas Australian Style !

In Australia Christmas is celebrated on the beach in early summer. They barbecue the turkey and have ice-cream with the Christmas pudding. However heat is not going to stop the decoration which is an important part of Christmas and it is possible to see windows sprayed to look snowy in the heat wave. Most carol services are performed by candle light out of doors.

An African Christmas!

On the west coast of Africa, in Liberia, most homes have an oil palm for a Christmas tree, which is decorated with bells. On Christmas morning, people are woken up by carols. Presents such as cotton cloth, soap, sweets, pencils, and books are given. Dinner is eaten outdoors with everyone sitting in a circle to share the meal of rice, beef and biscuits.

My typical Christmas!

This year on Christmas morning my brother will probably wake me and my dad up at 4:30. Then he will run and grab his stocking and leave mine down stairs. Then at 12:30 I will go to my mums then before presents I will have to climb up to the top of Rose berry topping. At the top I will probably have ham sandwiches and hot chocolate. Then me, mum and sandy will go home to have PRESENTS!

Titanic Written by Poppy

The Titanic was made by Harland and Wolf. The company was the White Star Line. If you look to your left you will see the Titanic setting of on her maiden voyage.

She weighed 45,000 tonnes and had 3 million rivets in the making of her. The Titanic had three working funnels and the fourth was to make the ship more stylish. One of the White Star Line secondary leaders said that the Titanic should have 48 life boats, but Bruce Ismay the White Star Line Leader said that people didn't pay money to see the ship look cluttered with life boats so he reduced the amount to 16 life boats.

In 1910 they started making her. In 1912 the Titanic set sail with about 3,500 people on board, even though she could hold up to 5,000. The Olympic Crew wanted to come onto the Titanic and work but because the Olympic Captain chose not to sail that day, it meant that the crew was demoted and one member sent off the ship. As it happened, that member had the key to the cupboard that held the binoculars for the crows nest.

When the lookout, Fredric Fleet, needed some binoculars he could not get into the cupboard, and as the Titanic was heading for the iceberg, the lookouts could barely keep their eyes open because of the coldness of the Atlantic air.

If Fredric Fleet had decided to hit the iceberg straight on, the Titanic would not have sunk, just the hull would have been crushed, but because the Captain decided to try and avoid it, the iceberg gashed through 5 of the 16 watertight compartments. The damage caused the ship to sink in two hours.

History of Mario - By Jake

Mario first appeared in “Donkey Kong”, a game where Jump-Man (A.K.A Mario) had to rescue his ex-girlfriend, Pauline from Donkey Kong's great Grandpa. The game started with Mario jumping across construction cranes while Donkey Kong threw barrels at him. It offered great skill.

Mario next appeared in “Mario Bros.” A game where Luigi, Mario's brother, first appeared. Luigi looked like a grumpy old man and was short and plump. In the game you had to kick evil turtles and crabs in order to score points.

Mario then appeared in perhaps the greatest game of all time, Super Mario Bros. It threw in enemies such as: Buzzy Beetles, Goombas, Koopa Troopa's, and the games first proper villain, Bowser!

People loved the Mario games and they kept coming, from “Mario land” to “Mario Galaxy”, the history of Mario keeps on going- and always will.

Patrick Star, Written by Josh

Patrick Star is Spongebob Squarepants` best friend in the Nickelodeon TV show “Spongebob Squarepants”. Patrick is about the same age as Spongebob and lives under a rock. He is pink, plump, and friendly.

Although he is very stupid Spongebob is regularly fascinated by his silly ideas. In the TV show, Spongebob isn't Patrick's only friend - he has four other friends. They are Sandy the squirrel, Gary the snail, Mr Krabs (as you've probably guessed he is a crab) and finally Squidward Tentacles who is a squid.

Gary the snail is also Spongebob's pet snail. Patrick and Spongebob are also big fans of the underwater sea show “Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy”.

After five years, a greatest hits CD and three albums, Sarah, Nadine, Kimberly, Nicola and Cheryl are not stopping there, their latest album Out Of Control is #1 in the UK! It sold over 85,000 copies, 27,000 more than their rival “Pink”!

Also they have released an autobiography “Dreams that Glitter”. Kimberly Walsh and Cheryl Cole are set to climb a mountain for Comic Relief. The girls are going to climb the highest peak in Africa. Tag Rugby by Joe

Tag Rugby is a great sport that requires speed, skill and brains. I play tag rugby for my school team (Green Lane Primary). We are going to the Middlesbrough finals to represent Acklam in a cup.

The rules of tag rugby are simple:- you are only allowed to pass the ball backwards, not forwards. You have to stick your belt at the side, not at the front or back, and when you get tagged, you are only allowed 3 seconds to pass the ball to someone on your team.

Tang Soo Do by Lorna

It is a Korean Martial Art. Tang Soo Do literally means "The Way of The Chinese Hand"

Master Alliton is the Grand Master, and he lives in Cyprus. The martial art teaches you to defend yourself in an appropriate way. There are 12 belts to collect, including the Master's belt. To get to the next level of belt, you have to do a grading, which is like an exam.

The higher the belt the trickier it gets. You learn forms, basic movements, kicks and what your belt actually means.
