Special Educational Needs Policy and a Guide for Parents.
The Council's Policy "Meeting Special Educational Needs in Middlesbrough", outlines the Council's approach for ensuring that a child's special educational needs are identified, assessed and supported through a graduated and systematic response. The Policy covers w orking in partnership to meet SEN, Local Authority support for schools , The SEN Code of Practice, provision for pupils with SEN and funding arrangements

Disability Equality Scheme
This strategy represents the desire by Middlesbrough Council to ensure that all children and young people have access to an appropriate education. This includes all schools and other education services provided or commissioned by the Council.
The Council would like to see the inclusion of disabled children in every aspect of school life.
The Council welcomes the requirement for public authorities, including schools, to have a Disability Equality Scheme. This scheme will build on the schemes and accessibility plans of schools. It will require positive actions by all public bodies as we all strive for equality. See following link:
