Middlesbrough Children & Young People’s Trust
What is the Middlesbrough Children & Young People’s Trust?
- It is not a separate organisation but a partnership bringing together all the organisations in Middlesbrough responsible for services for children, young people and their families.
- Each partner retains its own functions and responsibilities within the wider partnership framework
- Managed by a statutory multi agency Trust Board
What does it do?
- Develops a strategy for improving children’s lives by delivering better services - the Children & Young People’s Plan
- Focuses on key priorities identified through a local needs assessment including:
- Identifying children and young people at risk of failure or harm, and intervening early to make sure children are safe and can thrive;
- Narrowing the gap – especially in educational attainment – between vulnerable children and young people (like children in care) and others, while also improving the lives of all children; and
- Reducing child poverty
How does it do this?
- Listening to the views of children and young people and their families/carers
- Promoting joint working between all professionals who work with children and young people
- Working towards effective commissioning of services based on a needs analysis; and using resources effectively and creatively
- Seeking to overcome unnecessary barriers to sharing and using information
