Middlesbrough Children & Young People’s Trust

What is the Middlesbrough Children & Young People’s Trust?

  • It is not a separate organisation but a partnership bringing together all the organisations in Middlesbrough responsible for services for children, young people and their families.
  • Each partner retains its own functions and responsibilities within the wider partnership framework
  • Managed by a statutory multi agency Trust Board

What does it do?

  • Develops a strategy for improving children’s lives by delivering better services - the Children & Young People’s Plan
  • Focuses on key priorities identified through a local needs assessment including:
    • Identifying children and young people at risk of failure or harm, and intervening early to make sure children are safe and can thrive;
    • Narrowing the gap – especially in educational attainment – between vulnerable children and young people (like children in care) and others, while also improving the lives of all children; and
    • Reducing child poverty

How does it do this?

  • Listening to the views of children and young people and their families/carers
  • Promoting joint working between all professionals who work with children and young people
  • Working towards effective commissioning of services based on a needs analysis; and using resources effectively and creatively
  • Seeking to overcome unnecessary barriers to sharing and using information
