Increased use of Information Technology results in increased use of electricity therefore it is important that the most energy efficient equipment is purchased. As a rule laptops use up to 80% less energy than some desk tops and monitors above 15” to 17” use considerably more energy relative to the increase in size.

Always look to use power down/switch off settings and switch off computers/monitors when not in use. Consider the use of local network systems utilising older equipment as thin clients. Such an approach results in improved energy management.
