Acklam Grange

Oakleaf CafeA wonderful large dining area and kitchen with double fronted servery was provided in this full school and kitchen build. This Secondary has space for a salad bar, pasta bar and sandwich bar along with two multi choice main service points.

It has a modern cash less system in place where children load their cards at various points throughout the school and just swipe it at the till to avoid cash handling in the dining hall.

 

Linthorpe 

Linthorpe SchoolThis school previously had no full cooking kitchen and meals had to be transported in from a nearby school. It has now provided the children with fresh meals cooked on site from a brand new full production kitchen.

A double hot servery spills out into the dining area the numbers of meals have increased, the food keeps its temperature better and the presentation has much improved as it does not need to be packed up and is now served straight from the oven.

 

Ormesby / Priory

Ormesby Priory Seating AreaA full shared cooking kitchen with modern dining facilities has been provided in this scheme. The joint kitchen provides food for both Ormesby and Priory Woods Schools taking into account the clients individual needs. Both Unit Supervisors work closely together to set the menus and provide a healthy balanced meal for the children with multi choice meals, salad bar and sandwich options provided daily.

 

Archibald

The very old kitchen was seperate from the main school and each day the children had to walk down to the dining hall at lunchtime in all weathers. So a full new production kitchen was not only provided but was built onto the school joining up the facilities and providing a much improved service for the children, the kitchen and dining hall was transformed and the old kitchen demolished.

The children were so appreciative of their new dining facilities which were opened by the Mayor of Middlesbrough and many other VIP guests including the previous retired Head Teacher Mrs Patricia Irving.

 

Beech Grove

A full production kitchen has been providing meals where previously transported in from a nearby school so this is another super transformation. Meals are now all cooked fresh on site we have been provided with much brighter healthier working environment in which to work in with all new equipment.

This new kitchen is spacious and has adequate facilities in order to accommodate the children from the Lambton Road site in September 2011.

 

Sacred Heart

Sacred HeartThis scheme has provided the school with a full cooking kitchen the refurbishment meant  meals no longer needed to be transported in. The kitchen has all new equipment with up to date Extraction and Gas Interlock systems.

Meal numbers have increased and the school now has its own Unit Supervisor to provide meals on site for the children and staff.

 

Berwick Hills

A new school build has given the catering service the opportunity again of having a full production kitchen. The new kitchen is bright and spacious and much improved with modern cooking equipment including a dishwasher, there is now an office for the Unit Supervisor and plenty of surface area to prepare the meals in. The changing facilities are a big bonus for the staff who previously struggled with the small tight area for changing in.

 

Trinity

Catering Managers check on progress at TrinityThe old St David's school kitchen and Newlands FCJ kitchen have merged to form the new Trinity provision and will move into the New Trinity School site in September 2011. A full new build with two multi choice counters set back in the main kitchen along with sandwich and Pasta King bar will be provided. Biometrics Cash less catering will also be a feature in this new scheme and a street style setting.

Health & Safety is important while the contractors are still busy on site, any visitors are required to wear the PPE provided.

 

Pallister Park

A full kitchen refurbishment has taken place at Pallister Park, the old kitchen was very small and did not have enough surface area to prepare the food on. Its extraction system did not work correctly and the staff and changing facilities were very poor.

It now has all new equipment, an office for the Unit Supervisor and a dishwasher rather than the old style sterilising unit.

 

Hemlington Hall

Hemlington Hall KitchenThis kitchen was old and too big for the number of meals served on site, the kitchen was fully refurbished and a section of it was given up to extend the dining hall giving the children more space to eat in and socialise. The staff room was updated and extraction and canopy replaced, we had the addition of a dishwasher and office for the Unit Supervisor who only had a pantry previously to do her paperwork in.

 

Beverley / Prince Bishop

Beverly and Prince Bishop opening buffetA full new Super Build for these two schools with a shared kitchen leading out into separate dining areas for both schools. This kitchen is a lovely shape and is very spacious it has all necessary facilities in order to prepare fresh nutritious foods meeting the needs of both the individual schools.  Middlesbrough Football Manager, Tony Mowbray opened the new school at a prestigious champagne reception.

 

What a busy time we have had within the Catering Section over the last few years. We have been very lucky to benefit from full new kitchen builds and also full refurbishment's in others.

Primary Strategy for Change along with Building Schools for the Future has given us up to date High Tech Equipment and much improved working conditions for our staff. Our Children have also recieved modern facilities in the dining areas making lunchtime brighter and more comfortable for them
.
